Article Correction – The Latest on the FCC’s Early TV License Renewal Orders

Posted on June 1st, 2026 by

We wrote on Friday that of the two TV station owners directed to file early license renewal applications by the FCC’s Media Bureau, one of them, Bridge News, LLC, filed only a petition for reconsideration of the FCC’s April 27th order, and did not file renewal applications by the specified deadline. Instead, it appears that Bridge News, LLC not only filed the petition for reconsideration but also filed renewal applications for each of its stations by the required deadline.

The FCC has responded to the Bridge News renewal applications and the ABC/Disney renewal application filings by issuing public notices accepting the applications for filing and setting pleading deadlines for petitions to deny the applications, as well as announcing that it will treat the proceedings under the “permit but disclose” rules.  For both the Bridge News and ABC/Disney applications, petitions to deny must be filed by June 29, 2026, with oppositions due by July 29, 2026 and replies by August 5th.
